Which business should one start if you have 10 lac rupees to invest?
To start a business with 10 lac (1 Million rupees) investment in Pakistan in 2026, you should be focusing on low-overhead, high-margin areas. These include:
- opening an online store in Pakistan (e-commerce)
- micro-manufacturing (a very underrated area)
- service-based agencies
- digital products like e-books and courses (teaching and coaching are actually “services” that you provide so do not directly fall under digital products as such).
Now, this question about starting a business with 10 lac rupees, I was asked this question on my YouTube, many years ago. See the answer I gave back then (because the fundamentals have NOT changed, so it is best if you understand those as well)
Here’s my … ahem… 30 minute answer ????
Hope you find it useful (let me know in the comments section here).
How to start a business with 10 lac investment?
How to start a business with 10 lac investment is a good question to ask. But only as a start. With 10 lac investment, especially in Pakistan, you can start quite a few profitable businesses… but as you will see in this howo-to video, it is not just about the money!
Once you have understood these concepts, it is now time to look at the options we have.
Top 3 Business Models for 10 lacs (1 Million) PKR investment
This is updated for 2026.
- Your Own E-Commerce Store
- Micro Manufacturing
- Content-First Service Agency
- Digital Products like Online Courses
Your Own E-Commerce Store
You find a product that you can sell online. Most of the e-commerce stores you see in Pakistan follow this model. You probably are going to use 40% of your budget for initial inventory, and as much as 30% for the high-frequency video marketing on platforms like TikTok, Instagram and YouTube shorts.
What I like about this model:
- Low entry barrier
- Direct-to-Consumer profit margins! You dont need to give the distributors their cut
What I don’t like about this:
- Low entry barrier 🙂 meaning other people can start this as easily as you can, so this cuts both ways
- the COGS are very high of course, as you will be buying the products (inventory) to later sell.
Mirco Manufacturing
This is where you create your own product and then sell it online yourself.
I have students and members in our community who are selling perfumes, shampoos and make up that they make themselves.
What I like about this:
- full control on the quality
- tougher to start as not many people have the skills to produce something people want to pay for
- you learn manufacturing as well as the skill of brand building / marketing
What I dont like about this:
- you do both manufacturing and the selling part, this increases work load
- your 10 lac investment gets quickly used in marketing and manufacturing, and if you’re not careful, one can run out of money very quickly. This is what cash flow problems are, and they are tough to manage, especially if you’re starting out.
Essential: FBR & Legal Setup
As an entrepreneur I know I don’t like this kind of documentation. It slows the whole process, right? But these are important and not that difficult to get. Thanks to the online versions of getting these documents.
The 3-Step Legal Checklist for Pakistani Startups / Businesses
- FBR / NTN Registration: You need this to open your business bank account and even look into integratin Pakistani payment gateways (like credit card processing). This is relatively simple, via the Iris portal.
- IP Protection: Especially in micro-manufacturing, it is best if you protect your physical brand with a trademark. This is to avoid “brand squatters” who can prop up later in your journey.
- Digital Presence Ownership: please, don’t miss this step. Get a decent website, with your own .pk domain (or a .com if you can find it). This not only gives your brand a proper footing in the market, it also helps in building trust in your customer’s eyes. Get your business website here.
Can I start an Amazon FBA business with 10 lac rupees?
Yes. I don’t like that business because it is sold as something “Easy”. It is more complex than starting any of the business models I mentioned above. Having said that, with 10 lacs you’re better off in smaller markets with Amazon FBA, markets like UAE or maybe UK. For the US market, 10 lac rupees in generally considered a “masaaN masaaN” budget 🙂
Which business is “Recession Proof” in Pakistan?
During high-inflation, which Pakistan is seeing a lot of lately, demand for “problem-solving” services and locally produced products usually stay constant. So, services business or a micro manufacturing business.
Should I rent an office for 10 lac rupee business startup?
No. In 2026, you don’t need that. Most business fail because of high fixed-costs, like rent and electricity bills etc. Get a co-working space like Kickstart until your monthly revenue is 3x your fixed costs. Then look into getting your own office but only if you really need it. Don’t add expenses to your business without a clear and proper need for them.
